Cork v Kilkenny

Well done to the Cork lads. Yes, they lost, but they put up a brave performance against such a strong Kilkenny side and made me truly proud to be a Corkonian. Players such as Diarmuid O'Sullivan were truly superb. This is the Cork team I have grown up with. They made me develop such a deep passion for the game, and for Cork. Speculation is everywhere that the Rock and others may have played their last game in Croke Park, and this may be true, but I know along with everyone else that there are another few years left in these players yet, if they choose to continue. I have such respect for the Cork team that walked out on Sunday. They went into that match as underdogs and were unsurprisingly beaten, but one match does not defina a team. There is alot more to that team than what we saw on Sunday, and they will have their day, some other time.

The Junior Certificate

Well, well, well. Where do I start? After three long years of preparation, finally it actually happened! You really never think the big exams are going to come around, but they do, and all too fast. I really thought the year flew, and one year is such a short amount of time to cram 11 subjects, and stupidly enough I left it till the last few months. I was worried, nervous for some subjects, pretty relaxed for others. But once I got in there, it was like any other exam. I really had no complaints with any of the papers apart from English Paper 1, which I felt was a bit abstract. It felt more like a CSPE paper, rather than English. Other than that, every exam went fine. I feel both teachers and the media hype up exams too much. And, yes, I know I haven't yet done the Leaving, but I'm just speaking from my personal experience. We hear so much about the negative effects of exams on students, but if we are not pushed to the limit we are never going to achieve our potential. I want to aim high in life, and if exams are what will get me to where I want to be, then so be it. I will try my very best and hope the results are what I deserve. All will be revealed on the second Wednesday of September...

Meanwhile, the Leaving Cert results are out this Wednesday. Good luck to everyone, and I hope you all get the points for the courses you want. I have great respect for anyone who has ever repeated the Leaving so that they can get the course they want. And FFS, ye're damn lucky! I wish I was off to Trinity in September, but no such luck!

Back for good...

I know I have neglected my blog so much in the past few months, although I had good reason! I was doing State Exams here in Ireland and then I was in Italy for 2 weeks, so I've had my hands full. I really am not sure what type of blog this will be yet, but for now I'll just try anything and everything.
